May 29 – June 1

Popcorn Words:  Review all words we have learned this year.

Math:  We have been having fun doing some U.S. Symbol Math and reviewing our Math skills that we have learned in K.

Readers Workshop:  We have been working with our friends during Readers Workshop.  Using our partner power to help each other read, share our books with each other and enjoy reading together.  We shared our love of reading with our 3rd grade friends from Mrs. Flory’s class.  They visited with us and read us a book.  It was fun to listen to them read to us!  Thanks for visiting with us Mrs. Flory’s 3rd graders!!

American Symbols:  We have been learning all about the American Symbols.  The Kindergartners learned about the White House, even trying to draw it themselves.  They were amazed that it has over 142 windows, a bowling alley and even a movie theater!!  We have talked about the American Flag, The Bald Eagle, The White House and The Liberty Bell.  The Kindergartners are getting really good at spotting these U.S. symbols around them!

Countdown to Summer:  We have had a lot of fun counting down to our end of the school year.  Each day after lunch we have gotten to pop a balloon to discover our surprise on our countdown wall.  We had fun writing with a pen and writing to a pen pal in Mrs. Baker’s classroom.  We also enjoyed having an extra recess on one of our countdown days!!  On one of our countdown days we even changed our names!!  We got to pick any name we wanted!!  The class chose my name….Mrs. Bologna Rainbow!!  We had a Kevin Durant, Bro, and even a Doggie!!  The Kindergartners have had so much fun with this countdown.  Who knows what the last few countdown balloons will bring?!?

Outstanding Awards:  We had two Outstanding Student award recipients this week!  Congratulations to Olivia and Ellary for being an example of working hard, being nice and learning well!!

Mystery Reader:  Ellary was so surprised to see her Grandpa and Grandma walk through our door as our Mystery Reader this week!!  They shared the book, The Dark, Dark Night by Christina Butler.  The Kindergartners loved this adorable book about Frog who was afraid of a huge pond monster, or is it his shadow?  Thanks so much for visiting and reading to us Ellary’s grandparents!!  We LOVED our yummy suckers too!!

Kindergarten Olympics:  We had sooooo much fun at our Kindergarten Olympics!! I am working on putting together a Kindergarten Olympic video.  I would LOVE any pictures you may have from the day!  Feel free to send them my way at jstutz1@hpseagles.net.  Thank you to all of our volunteers for all of your help!!  It was a GREAT morning of fun!!
